Paris – City of Lights is a 2-player strategy game set in 1889 Paris during the Universal Exhibition, where electric street lighting brings the city into the limelight. As master builders, two rivals plan and build a neighborhood that glows in the night, using clear mechanics that are quick to learn and full of strategic decisions.
The game is played in two phases: in the first phase, both players choose two street tiles from a common output and place them on the board; then, in the second phase, using the street tiles now collected, produce their own buildings and apply the actions shown on the postcards. Scoring is achieved by the size of the buildings, the number of lanterns they are next to, but also by the points given by the special effects of the postcards and the largest groups of connected buildings.
The description of visual elements and atmospheric "maps" contribute to the immersion in 19th century Paris, and the concise rules allow a quick start of the game, making Paris - City of Lights an elegant and accessible duel for both families and couples who are passionate about authors like José Antonio Abascal.
