Artist Jim Shore grew up in rural South Carolina. He is the son of artistic parents who instilled in him a love for the traditional imagery and values of American folk art. He cites his grandmother, a master quilter who taught him to appreciate the art and her quilt collection that dates back more than 150 years, as an inspiration.
