Professional nail types for nail professionals or beginners creating their own manicures at home.
Semi-types for use with polygel or acrylic fillings.
Give free rein to your imagination! They are the perfect length for cutting and creating all styles, such as: almond, coffin, oval, squoval, square and stiletto, short, medium or long.
1a Prepare the nails by removing all traces of old nail polish, gel or glue from the surface of the natural nail.
1b Gently push back the cuticles with a cuticle pusher, removing any dead skin if necessary. This cleans the nail bed to ensure the acrylic stones are aligned and you get the perfect shape.
1c Wash and dry hands/nails thoroughly.
Pro tip: Lightly buff natural nails with a nail file and then clean with an alcohol or acetone-based wipe or similar. This prepares the surface of the nail for perfect bonding with the tips of the new nails.
2a Apply a sufficient layer of nail glue evenly on the tip of the fake nail. Cover all the necessary nails, including the edges.
Pro tip: Place the nail tips on your natural nails and arrange them so that you can easily apply the correct tips. For a perfect fit, the fake nail should not overlap the skin. Once you think you have the right size, try the next size up and down to make sure it fits perfectly.
3a Apply the nail tip at a 45° angle. This will help eliminate air bubbles to prevent the nail from coming off.
3b Press the nail for 5-10 seconds or until it sticks firmly.
Pro tip: For your own manicure, apply to your dominant hand first. This usually allows for better control when applying to the other hand.
4a Use the false nail clipper to trim the tip to the desired length and shape.
4b Use a file to perfect the shape.
4c Prepare the tip for the acrylic layer by filing/polishing it and removing the gloss. This creates a rough surface to which the acrylic will adhere securely.
Pro tip: When filing and polishing, keep the tip in shape and reduce movement and vibration. This is faster, feels more comfortable for the client, and prevents the tip from coming off.
5a Apply the acrylic to the natural nail and blend it into and over the tip of the false nail.
5b Refine the final shape of the acrylic nails with a file and a buffer. Then clean your nails with a cuticle wipe before applying the gel/polish.
Pro tip: If you're new to acrylic nails, start with smaller layers and build up to the desired shape and thickness.
After you've failed and curled your Airre nails, we'd love to see them. :)
