Large, long-lived and full of fruit, date plants need above-average temperatures, some humidity and a special substrate to grow luxuriantly and produce many clusters of dates. All these are features that we found in the famous oasis of Biskra, in the north-east of Algeria and in Tunisia, not far from the border with the Algerian state. In these areas, cultivation is traditional, characterized by artisanal and ancient methods in order not to lose its valuable properties. The dates are picked by hand and then dried in the sun in a slow, often relentless and methodical process, always paying attention to the temperatures to which they are exposed. Never above 42°C, characteristics that give it the certificate of guaranteed rawness. What arrives at your home is a natural product that does not contain added sugar or other chemical additives. The quality of these dates is what is called Deglet Nour, which means "fingers of light", a name that was certainly not chosen by chance, but because of their transparency. Dates are also known as the food of nomads due to the high amount of energy and calories, especially the dried ones provide twice the energy requirement than the fresh ones due to the fermentation of sugars during the drying process. Therefore, always use them in moderation, but constantly and continuously over time, because, in addition to calories, dates are rich in fiber, vitamins and mineral salts, including those with the highest content of potassium, manganese, copper, phosphorus, magnesium and calcium. But the benefits of dates don't stop there, as they add natural laxative, anti-inflammatory and, certainly not least, aphrodisiac properties.
