While the first generation of the Bel Tempo series was made from a traditional clay mixture and at typically low firing temperatures, we managed to significantly improve the properties of the material with the second generation, BEL TEMPO II, without losing the popular clay character: BEL TEMPO II is dishwasher and microwave safe and does not absorb moisture at all. However, the material has thicker walls than porcelain, produces an unparalleled dark sound when struck against the wall of the vessel, and does not allow light to shine through when held against a light source. BEL TEMPO II combines the specialty of clay tableware with the comfort of porcelain!
