Yerba mate is a traditional South American drink that is becoming increasingly popular in Europe and the US. Mate tea is a healthy and natural caffeinated beverage made from the dried leaves of Ilex paraguariensis, a subtropical shrub.
Mate is said to have the energizing effect of coffee and the health benefits of tea, which is why it is increasingly being used as an alternative to these two drinks!
Griezmann, Messi, Obama, Pope Francis... numerous well-known personalities from the most diverse fields have been convinced of the positive effects of this revitalizing and purifying drink.
Although it can be brewed as a tea, mate is traditionally drunk from a calabash, a special mate tea cup, using a metal straw and strainer known as a bombilla.
Made from recyclable wrapping paper made in France, it protects your matte set during shipping and makes a great gift box!
The complete mate tea set is assembled in France in a workshop for people with disabilities.
We decided to use clay because its microporous properties ensure optimal insulation. In addition, the heat is retained for longer due to the deliberately narrow opening of the cup.
Its enameling makes it resistant to breaking and easy to clean: does not require the time-consuming cleaning required of traditional gourds made from hollowed-out gourds, which can mold. Our mate cup can simply be washed by hand or in dishwasher.
Matte tea cups are made by a Portuguese ceramist: After all, Portugal is known for its expertise in ceramic production!
I chose the straw to drink from stainless steel firstly because of its well-thought-out design, which prevents the penetration of mate leaves, and secondly because it is easy to clean (by hand or in the dishwasher).
It is made exclusively from high-quality leaves and contains no waste, stems or branches to give you a powder-free, bitter-free matte with a subtle herbal aroma.
Our mate leaves come from certified organic farming: it is grown without the use of chemicals out of respect for nature and your health.

*Did you know that? Apart from gourds made from hollowed-out gourds, which mostly come from South America, matte tea cups made from alternative materials are mostly imported from China.
Whether as a gift or for personal use, our yerba mate set provides the ideal equipment to enjoy good mate tea in a practical and traditional way!
Fill at least 1/4 of the caltabosch with mate tea.
Tilt the caltabose so that the mat slides to one side. Wet the leaves on the bare side (cold or lukewarm water).
Place the bombilla with the empty side down.
Pour hot water (max. 80°C) on the empty side of the bottle.
Top up the water level throughout the day without changing or discarding mate.
