Traditional mate
Mate tea is traditionally drunk with a bombilla (drinking straw with strainer) from a calabash (mate cup): a way of tasting that offers even more authenticity!
Traditional preparation
Fill the calabash a quarter full with mate and tilt it slightly so that the leaves pile up on one side. Wet the free part lightly with cold water. Now insert the bombilla into this area and carefully pour hot water (max. 80°C) over the straw. Enjoy the tasty drink and top up with hot water as needed for additional infusions, without replacing the mate leaves.
Mate cocido
Mate cocido refers to the preparation of mate as tea or coffee. Use a tea infuser, a tea strainer... your favorite tea making accessories.
Mate cold tereré
Cold or frozen mate, also known as "tereré", is a very common drink in Paraguay, but it is also very popular in Brazil and Argentina during the hot summer months.

Our yerba mate comes from the Paraná region of southern Brazil, where it grows at an altitude of 800 meters. Its leaves come from the mate tree "Ilex paraguariensis". The climate of Paraná is characterized by mild temperatures, which do not exceed 25°C in summer and at least 10°C in winter. BIO!
Controlled drying for true flavor
The "L'Original" yerba mate leaves are twisted into a drum, where they are exposed directly to the flames for about 30 seconds. They then remain on a conveyor belt for several hours, where they are indirectly heated. All our matte teas are green and not smoked.
