Advice:
Iron pan must be baked before first use (see below for instructions). It needs a lot of fat in the beginning. This is because the patina, which acts as a non-stick coating, only forms over time. The longer you use this pan, the less fat you will need.
No kitchen should be without an iron skillet, and it's a must for every cook. In addition to its high level of functionality, iron is characterized by its versatility. Professional chefs know the secret of iron pans: it's all in the material!
Just like at our grandmothers or in the old mountain huts - the old iron pans, used for years, give the meat its own flavor and the right crust.
They are worth trying.
Advantages at first sight:
The corrosion protection on the pan (wax layer) must be removed. To do this, fill a sink or bowl with hot water and let the RÖSLE iron pan soak in it for a few minutes with a little detergent. Remove the residue thoroughly with a dishwashing brush or sponge.
To ensure that nothing burns, the pan must form a protective layer (patina) before the first use. To do this, pour about 3 mm of oil into the pan and heat until the oil begins to smoke slightly. Take the pan off the heat and let it cool. Repeat this process three times using the same oil. Your RÖSLE pan is now ready for use! Do not heat the pan to the highest setting, 75% is usually enough.
Mode of use
Use a lot of fat to begin with - use less later! The slightly porous structure of the iron absorbs more and more grease over time. This creates a natural coating (patina) on the inside and a natural non-stick effect. The pan gets progressively darker towards black, but this improves the frying properties. After use, place the cookware on a heat-resistant surface. Only suitable oil/fat can be used for frying. Do not add water while the oil is hot in the pan - risk of splatter! Do not heat the pan for long periods without any contents. This can lead to severe deformation of the base of the pan.
Always place food in hot fat. RÖSLE "natural" iron pans are not coated. They are resistant to scratches and cuts and do not change their characteristic surface structure even after years of use. When using on a grill, place the pan only on the grill. Under no circumstances should the pan be placed directly on the coals. To protect yourself from burns, use oven mitts or other heat protection.
Note: It is completely normal for the pan to discolor (patina). The original appearance cannot be restored after the first heating.
